Many months ago, we posted a Mushroom Vodka infusion. For the most part, that infusion has been sitting in a mason jar doing nothing… until now.
A handful of readers gave some great cocktail suggestions, and a simple drink with orange bitters sounded great.
Maple Mushroom Martini
2 oz. Mushroom Infused Vodka
3/4 tsp maple syrup
5-6 dashes Orange Bitters
1/2 TB fresh squeezed lemon juice
1 dash aromatic bitters
Mix all of the above ingredients in a cocktail shaker with ice.
This drink has the flavor of the mushroom, with a touch of sweetness from the maple, balanced with the tart lemon juice and bitters. In all, I think this was pretty delicious! I wouldn’t mind having another…
Cheers!

I am dubious… but you make it sound pretty good. I still kind of want to puke thinking about it though.

haha! I would not say that this is my favorite cocktail of all time, but it was really pretty good! (I’m not kidding)

Hmmmmmmmmm………..well, I think I may like it because it doesn’t sound as sweet as some cocktails. After my Peppers and Tequila finish fusing, I may have to try this one.

It is not for everyone! But definitely not too sweet!

Wow, I just came to have a look after you dropped by my blog and I love your concept! I adore infusing, but have never got further than sloe gin, raspberry whisky and berry vodka. Definitely going to have a go at some of your more adventurous ideas. Thanks so much for totally opening my eyes!

Thanks! Yes, it is amazing the things you can infuse… So glad to have found you too! And I look forward to hearing about your next incredible infusion

This may be the wildest sounding cocktail I have ever heard of, yet a possibility I would not turn down of offered. When I go over the ingredients, I am intrigued. At first I thought the only thing to make with this was a Bloody Mary (and a thumpin’ good one at that). However, this invites a sweet tooth to the party. Nicely done!

Hi Jack, yes, this mushroom cocktail was a bit of a surprise for me too. I really just infused the mushrooms out of curiosity and didn’t do anything with them for a long time. I really did like this cocktail. It may not be one I would drink regularly, but I would have it again!

This was awesome. 🙂 I mixed mushroom infused vodka, maple syrup, bitters, fresh squeezed lemon and orange, shook it with ice then put a skewered cinnamon cap mushroom (it was fresh, it was one of the ones fusing with the vodka) in a shot glass with it, put some grenadine over it to give it a nice colour.. It was amazing! Everyone loved it. :3 Will be using in the future!

This was fantastic! We made this as part of the first course of our Christmas dinner “mushrooms 4 ways”. The other “ways” were of the more traditional food variety. What a fun addition to a dinner party. I wouldn’t say everyone in the family loved it, but about half of us thought it was delicious. The other half were still good sports and drank them up.
I would love to serve this at another party without telling people what it was. I don’t know if people would be able to guess, the flavour is so unique!
(Btw, we used dried porcini mushrooms and infused for 3 days)
